PROJECT
CHALLENGES

Suspended atrium staircase at the Innovation Campus in Lemgo, Germany:
A winding staircase with curved steel profile landings and sheet metal panelling with underlighting was to be suspended in the foyer, which was subsequently filled with screed. The first step was to measure the entire atrium.
For the winding staircase, subsystems with straight and curved flights of stairs, the sheet metal panelling and all substructures for the sheet metal panelling and light panels were created. The entire structure was connected to the now concealed roof girders with tension members and is therefore self-supporting. The modelling of the round and narrow platforms was particularly challenging, as no standardised rolled profiles could be used due to the tight radii.

ADVANTAGES

bocad proved to be an indispensable tool in the realisation of this complex design. The software made it possible to
- Modularisation of the design: The subdivision into subsystems such as substructures and sheet metal railings simplified the design considerably.
- Efficient 2D drawings: Working with different levels and the intuitive point system accelerated planning.
- Flexibility: bocad made it possible to split off and design individual systems independently, which was particularly helpful with the complex geometry of the platforms and curves.
