bocad Hybrid:
a new BIM solution for lean design, construction and assembly of mixed structures.
August 2025
· Hybrid buildings with BIM software: steel, wood, glass and light metal.
Includes point clouds and parts lists for all materials.
One licence, one access point and one support team for all materials.
Cloud: flexible access from anywhere.
High precision and high degree of prefabrication.
Cost and time savings, improved collaboration, and seamless data exchange.
Eschborn, Germany, August 2025: Hybrid constructions made of wood, steel and concrete are becoming the preferred method for economical and sustainable building projects. The high degree of prefabrication shortens construction times and reduces emissions on site. However, the BIM software market is highly fragmented: many projects use specialized solutions, which leads to data incompatibilities and increased coordination effort. SCHULLER&Company is now introducing bocad Hybrid, an integrated BIM solution that maps all relevant materials in one application and provides continuous digital support for hybrid construction workflows, from design to production.
BIM integration for hybrid construction: cross-network and cloud-based.
bocad Hybrid was developed to meet the requirements of modern hybrid construction projects. The software covers key industries, from steel and timber constructions to roof and façade solutions and includes associated parts lists and an integrated point cloud module. This makes bocad Hybrid suitable for both new buildings and retrofitting. The continuous workflow, from design to production, ensures accelerated, streamlined processes and transparency.
The new product package optimizes costs, improves design, and eliminates the need to switch between different systems. A central support team is available to assist users with any questions.
bocad Hybrid is available as a cloud license. Thanks to its cloud, the software can be used on any device, whether in the office, at home, or directly on the construction site. The license can be used flexibly by different users, thus supporting agile working models and changing project configurations.
SCHULLER & Company on the future of construction: economical, ecological, digital.
“Hybrid construction is not a trend, but the construction method of the future. With bocad Hybrid, we support companies in rethinking their design and manufacturing processes in an economical, ecological and digital way,” explains Helmut Schuller, CEO of SCHULLER&Company. ‘It's not just about technology, but also about attitudes towards efficiency, sustainability and collaboration.’
Integration with other tools, such as Autodesk Revit, is possible. Combining bocad and Revit sets a new standard for realizing hybrid construction methods. Architectural models from Revit can be transferred to bocad for further processing. This integration facilitates an efficient, error-free workflow from design to fabrication to construction.

At 72 meters, Roots in Hamburg is currently Germany's tallest hybrid timber building. Rubner was responsible for the technical and structural implementation and used bocad for the detailing.
A notable feature of the building is its factory-prefabricated timber frame wall elements, covering an area of 16,200 m². More than 5,500 m³ of wood was used for the interior and exterior wall elements and ceiling elements in cross-laminated timber.
About Roots:
Client: Garbe Immobilien-Projekte GmbH and Deutsche Wildtier Stiftung, both in Hamburg.
Architecture: Störmer Murphy and Partners GbR, Hamburg
Technical and structural implementation: Rubner
