PROJECT
CHALLENGES

For the first time, a complete pylon was designed entirely with bocad Tower as part of an 110 kV overhead line project in Upper Austria. The objective was to generate a consistent 3D model throughout the design process, from initial design to final design for manufacturing and assembly. Complex mast geometries, connection nodes and individual components were modelled in real conditions, and the new workflow was put to the test.

This took place during ongoing project operations. The new system had to be integrated into existing processes without compromising quality or structure. Creating project- and customer-specific templates required additional initial effort. At the same time, productive work had to be ensured despite time constraints.

ADVANTAGES

The first project clearly demonstrated the strengths of bocad Tower in mast construction.
- Precise 3D modelling of complex mast structures with challenging inclinations
- Real-time visualisation for the early analysis of connection details
- High flexibility thanks to customisable libraries and macros
- Automated bolt and point placement
- Automatic generation of parts lists and NC-DSTV data
- Consistent numbering and positioning of all components

The automation of central work steps in particular reduced manual activities and increased process reliability. Design engineers have more freedom to optimise details and complex geometries.
As experience of using bocad Tower grows, efficiency increases continuously, especially for recurring project requirements.
