PROJECT
CHALLENGES
Neumayer III Polar Research Station, Atka Bay, Antarctica:
The construction site in Atka Bay, Antarctica (South Pole) required precise planning with trial assembly, transport planning, construction sequence planning, construction sequence of the hydraulic support structure to adapt to the changing snow and ice conditions. In addition to packing into units with appropriate parts lists and drawings, transport by shipping container: 'unloading took 40 days'.
ADVANTAGES
For the location in the Antarctic, 100 per cent planning and construction across all interfaces as well as simple and clean subdivision into construction sections and subsystems were crucial. Unloading the shipping container took 40 days, and there is no hardware store there where you can buy the missing screws.
Helpful bocad features for this project:
- simple and clean subdivision into construction sections and subsystems
- automatic and high-quality creation of parts lists and drawings
- use of data interfaces such as DWG, STEP and IFC
