WIEHAG Timber Construction
Building owner: IBRB University of Warwick
PROJECT
CHALLENGES
IBRB University of Warwick:
Multi-storey timber hybrid construction in glulam skeleton construction with 5 storeys. The stairs over 13 metres were a technical challenge. Thanks to the complete prefabrication, it was possible to realise fast assembly on the construction site.
ADVANTAGES
Software requirements werde 3D planning of timber and steel components, the interfaces to concrete construction and 2D factory planning, as well as workshop planning for timber and steel components.
Helpful features of bocad:
The automated plan updating and visualisation was particularly helpful at the time, especially because of the many adjustments required by the architecture, building services and façade construction.
Every component is included in the 3D model, including all fasteners. This includes the WHB connector. This approach ensures exact prefabrication, which is essential for smooth assembly and thus for the success of the project.
