PROJECT
CHALLENGES
Statue Pegasus + Dragon, Gulfstream Park in Florida, USA:
Strasacker has created the world's largest horse sculpture and one of the largest bronze statues ever made, the sculpture is larger than the Statue of Liberty in New York or the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin: 33 metres high, 35 metres wide and 60 metres long, mounted on a skeleton made of 400 tonnes of steel, assembled from no fewer than 1,250 handmade bronze elements, elaborately worked by experienced craftsmen and weighing a further 250 tonnes.
The calculation and development of the extremely complex steel structure with 1,250 bronze elements was a previously unparalleled challenge. The project had a tight schedule: three years from the first study to the final installation.
ADVANTAGES
The IFC interface and BIM capability of bocad helped to ensure that around 5,000 individual steel parts and over 18,000 screw connections fitted together perfectly.
